Find Your Voice with Emily Kirkwood

Voice · Choir · Music Theory — for students of every age and stage.

About Me

Hi, I’m Emily Kirkwood. I hold a degree in music education with a focus on singing, choral direction, and music theory, and I’ve spent years helping students of all ages discover the joy of making music. Teaching is more than a profession for me — it’s a calling. Whether you’re chasing a college audition, preparing for your first solo at church, or simply singing for the love of it, I’d be honored to help you grow.

What I Teach

  • Private voice lessons — healthy vocal technique, breath support, range development, and repertoire across classical, musical theatre, contemporary, and worship styles.
  • Choir & ensemble coaching — sight-reading, part-work, blend, and confident solo singing within a group.
  • Music theory — from foundational notation and rhythm through harmony, ear training, and analysis. Great for AP Music Theory students, college prep, or curious adult learners.
  • Audition & performance preparation — school musicals, all-state choir, college admissions, recitals, and community performances.

Who I Work With

Students of all ages and levels are welcome — from young beginners just learning to match pitch, to teens preparing for serious auditions, to adults returning to singing after years away. Every lesson is shaped to where you are and where you want to go.

My Approach

Lessons combine warm encouragement with real musicianship. Vocal health and proper technique come first; from that foundation we build expressive, confident performance. I believe music is a lifelong skill, and my goal is to send every student home with something they can practice, share, and enjoy on their own.
